This week I am talking about tile. We are still in tear out mode of our ORC space (current laundry room). To be honest it is the least fun part of the project and the ugliest. So, lets talk about something fun; TILE! The wonderful The Tile Shop has sponsored me once again and I am ever so grateful. The Tile Shop has a continuously evolving product assortment. So there are always something new to find. I have a local shop just down the street from me (super convenient) or you can shop online too.
When I first started thinking about this project I knew I wanted a colorful cottage look. Something unique and not your typical white and gray bathroom. I want to create "new" spaces when I design. Something you don't see every other picture when you search on Pinterest. Ya know what I mean? So of course I knew I wanted to incorporate color, prints, patterns and texture. I toured The Tile Shop showroom and let me tell you, I was so inspired by all the gorgeous tile choices. Tile has come along way. I loved the Laura Ashley collection, particularly the Mr. Jones Midnight Matte Floor and Wall tile.
This tile flows perfectly with the rest of my house. We have painted white wood floors and my favorite accessory to decorate with is blue and white. It was seriously a no brainer when it came to choices. I decided to pair it with a white wall tile. Not just any white subway tile.
I chose the Pillow White ceramic wall tile. It has this really unique pillowed surface that offers added dimension. To boost the wall creativity up just a bit, but not to much. (I do have wallpaper on the walls and pattern on the floor). I decided to go with an accent tile by Annie Selke.
This tile is called Artisanal Smokey Blue Moldura. It has a beautiful crackle finish and it comes in the most amazing soft blue color. For the shower floor, penny tile won. I just love penny tile. I don't know why, maybe its the name. I always think its so cute, plus I think the shower floor is great place to do something a little fun and unexpected. I found just the perfect color, its called Penny Round Sky Blue.
Well there you have it. My tile choices in a nutshell. The supplies were delivered yesterday, and I can not wait to get started.
Room transformation is about to begin, just have to add some walls and plumbing first. After that we will be on our way to the cutest bathroom ever! Stick around the next 7 weeks so you can see the final result.
Be sure to check out the rest of the One Room Challenge Guest participants rooms. I'm sure they are on their way to some gorgeous transformations as well!. Click here to go see.
I love the way you're able to put color, pattern together!!! You are the Master at that!!!❤ Would love to see a shop with all your finds and art!!
It is going to look perfect. Your updates are written so well.
I love your choices! When we lived in Louisville, I used to wander around the Tile Shop on Shelbyville Road and plan projects. They have an amazing selection.
